In 95 wards and communes in the province, there have been many good and creative ways to take good care of all aspects of the lives of the elderly...
Beautify the house for the meritorious
Bu Dang commune was formed on the basis of merging the original natural area and population of
3 localities: Duc Phong town, Doan Ket commune and Minh Hung commune have officially operated since July 1, 2025.
Vice Chairman of Bu Dang Commune People's Committee Nguyen Canh Thao said that after a week of operation, the Party Committee and People's Committee of the commune launched a peak emulation campaign with the theme "Bu Dang Commune Government serving the people", focusing on reviewing policy households and NCC households that are still in difficulty to support house repairs, whitewashing walls, replacing leak-proof roofs... to show gratitude to NCC families for their service to the revolution.
Right after the launching ceremony on July 7, the commune divided into 2 groups to go to areas where NCC households need to repair, beautify, and renew their houses to carry out the emulation campaign. As of July 23 (phase 1 of the peak emulation campaign), Bu Dang commune has organized support to beautify the houses of Mrs. Huynh Thi Muoi (Duc Lap village); disabled soldier Tran Xuan Do (Minh Hung village 1); disabled soldier Nguyen Luong (Duc Loi village); and policy family Nguyen Thi Nga (Minh Hung village 6).
Having had his house's roof replaced and its walls repainted, disabled soldier Nguyen Luong said his family was very happy because the Party Committee, government, sectors and organizations of the commune joined hands to support to make the house newer and more beautiful.
"The house's mottled walls and leaky roof when it rains and gets hot when it's sunny have been painted, repaired, and renewed by the Party Committee, government, militia, and youth union members, making it much more beautiful," Mr. Luong shared.
Mr. Nguyen Canh Thao added that, in addition to supporting the beautification of the houses of the NCC, Bu Dang commune also organized a meeting with 284 delegates who are wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and NCC in the area; organized gift giving to 284 cases; exchanged and shared with the NCC families who are "Model citizens" and "Exemplary revolutionary families".
“This activity aims to directly express gratitude to the NCC who participated in the revolution; thereby, continuing to educate today's young generation about patriotism, gratitude and promoting the nation's traditional morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland" - Vice Chairman of Bu Dang Commune People's Committee Nguyen Canh Thao emphasized.
In addition to the above activities, the youth of the commune also went to the families of single mothers of martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers in difficult circumstances to cook a meaningful meal, and sat down to eat with the martyrs to show their gratitude and appreciation to the martyrs who had contributed and sacrificed for the independence of the Fatherland.
Support giving household items to meritorious people
The old Nhon Trach district, now the communes of Nhon Trach, Dai Phuoc and Phuoc An, has a total of more than 3,200 NCC; of which there are 1,584 martyrs, 311 war invalids, and 161 NCC receiving regular allowances. These localities pay attention to and take care of all aspects of NCC's life, including donating altars to martyrs' relatives and household items, which have been implemented for many years.
Secretary of the Party Committee of Dai Phuoc Commune Nguyen The Phong said that taking care of the families of the beneficiaries to have a better life or at least equal to the residents in the same living area is both the responsibility of the political system and an order from the hearts of those who live in peace . In recent days, despite having to focus on many tasks after the commune merger, Dai Phuoc Commune has still paid attention to organizing many activities to take care of the beneficiaries and policy families in the area.
“We coordinated with military units stationed in the area to organize a mass mobilization campaign from July 19 to 23, focusing on taking care of the martyrs; visiting and giving many gifts to the martyrs. We will continue to survey the needs for equipping martyrs' altars; household items such as televisions, refrigerators, washing machines... to have support policies..." - Mr. Phong said.
Also according to Mr. Nguyen The Phong, when the old Nhon Trach district was still in use, by July 2024, 100% of the NCC families in the district had enough household items such as: TV, refrigerator. Many cases in need of martyrs' altars were equipped. After the merger, the Party Committees and authorities of the communes: Nhon Trach, Dai Phuoc, Phuoc An continued to survey so that the NCC still needed to equip altars or household items will be calculated and implemented in the coming time.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Van (living in Nhon Trach commune) is worshiping 2 martyrs and her grandmother, Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Bien, one of the martyrs who was given an altar, confided: "When my family was given an altar with solemn portraits of my grandmother and 2 martyrs, I was very moved and believed in the policies of the Party and State towards martyrs. From now on, we must live better, worthy of the tradition that my grandmother and 2 uncles sacrificed"...
In addition to donating altars, Nhon Trach commune organized many gratitude models such as: youth union members visiting and supporting single-parent families; supporting crop harvesting and many other activities.
other reality…
Good and creative deeds motivate the NCC family to inherit the revolutionary tradition of their fathers and grandfathers, to rise up in life. Through that, it also educates today's young generation to always be grateful and thankful to the NCC who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
