This morning, October 27, Chairman of the People's Committee of Gio Hai Commune, Gio Linh District, Quang Tri Province, Tran Viet Nam, said that due to the impact of storm No. 6, heavy rain and big waves caused 4 service businesses at the Gio Hai Commune community beach to collapse completely and 9 shops had their roofs blown off.

In addition, the embankment under construction under the Gio Hai - Cua Viet Emergency Coastal Erosion Control Project suffered a landslide, causing considerable damage.

At the embankment section passing through Village 4 and Village 5, sea waves eroded the foot of the embankment about 1.5 km long, about 10 - 20 m deep.

Along the coast of the commune, the section passing through villages 7 and 8 also suffered landslides, eating into the coastal sand dike from 15 to 20 meters.

“The preliminary damage estimate is around 300-400 million VND. Currently, the commune is directing the evacuation of households at risk of flooding to higher ground to ensure safety,” Mr. Nam added.
