In 2024, Phan Dang Hoang became a prominent name in the Vietnamese fashion industry when he first introduced his personal brand at Milano Fashion Week - one of the four major fashion capitals of the world. With the support of Hangsilk in terms of artistic materials, Phan Dang Hoang's ideas were formed, conveyed as desired and created a distinct mark.
On September 28, Phan Dang Hoang will continue to have the honor of attending the new LACQUER collection show at Milano Fashion Week Spring Summer 2026. If his previous CERAMICS collection was inspired by the paintings of artist Nguyen Phan Chanh, then with LACQUER this time, he was inspired by the quintessence and soul of the paintings of artist Nguyen Gia Tri.
The famous painter Nguyen Gia Tri is known as the pioneering master who brought traditional lacquer into the current language of painting. His works mostly reflect the beauty of culture, people, and rural landscapes of Vietnam, such as images of water wharves, banyan trees, communal houses, bamboo rows, etc. To him, lacquer is not only a decorative material, but also an art of silence, sophistication, and many layers - an inner voice, profound and enduring, fully reflecting the spirit of dedication of the artist.
Choosing the artistic inspiration of the talented painter, Phan Dang Hoang wants to honor the timeless beauty, affirming the lasting value of the craftsman's hands - art created by hands, by time, and by patience and dedication, just like each layer of lacquer must go through many meticulous stages to reach depth and exude its own light.

Regarding the theme name, designer Phan Dang Hoang said that the pronunciation of “LACQUER” is similar to the word “Flag”, the design idea was also inspired by the paintings of famous painter Nguyen Gia Tri and exploited the people and beautiful landscapes of Vietnam, the colors of the collection will also have a bright color scheme: red - yellow… With a special connection, Phan Dang Hoang believes that the collection will join the flow of patriotism in the current proud moment of the nation.
Phan Dang Hoang said that LACQUER consists of 30 designs that originate from the most basic artistic shapes, combined with quality and complex construction techniques to tell the story of “having stillness and movement, in simplicity there is depth”. Each detail and layer of fabric is like layers of paint quietly applied to each other - many times, many stages - creating a finished product that both sparkles with light and retains the aesthetic depth of a classic lacquer painting.
“Because he comes from a family with a tradition of loving art, Hoang’s products and design ideas are also inspired by the beauty of national culture on paintings by famous painters who have an influence on Vietnamese art. As for the famous painter Nguyen Gia Tri, I have seen his paintings for a long time, when I started to love art. I am moved when I see each work because it evokes the very unique beauty of people, landscapes, and the homeland of Vietnam, especially when he himself painted on lacquer,” said Phan Dang Hoang.
In addition to the ideas, most of the works in the collection use hand-cutting and sewing techniques. He is proud to bring the values and spirit of Vietnamese products to the catwalk such as Lanh My A silk, silk, linen...
