Expanding network, rapidly increasing student population

In the 2024-2025 school year, Tuyen Quang province will have 20 ethnic boarding schools, attracting 12,657 students. At the same time, the boarding school model has also been expanded and effectively promoted, with 236 ethnic boarding schools caring for and nurturing more than 123,000 students.

The Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities is the "common home of ethnic minority students in the province". This school always maintains the top quality of education in the province. In the 2024 - 2025 school year, the rate of students promoted directly to the next grade reached 100%; the graduation rate reached 100%, ranking 3rd out of 92 schools in the province in terms of average rate of graduation exam subjects. The school has 29 students scoring 10 in the 2025 Graduation Exam.

Implementing the Politburo 's policy on investing in the construction of primary and secondary boarding schools in 248 land border communes, in the past time, the province has organized inspection teams, reviewed and prepared conditions for the construction of primary and secondary boarding schools in 17 border communes. Recently, in Thanh Thuy commune, the Provincial People's Committee launched the project to build Thanh Thuy Primary and Secondary Boarding School. The project has a total investment of more than 211 billion VND, including 31 classrooms, 15 subject rooms, 1 library room; 25 public service rooms, 198 dormitories for students and teachers, and many auxiliary works such as: Multi-purpose house, cultural activity house, kitchen - dining room, toilet - bathroom for students, football field...

Teacher Nguyen Thi Thuy Quynh, Principal of Thanh Thuy Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, said: "According to the plan, the project will be completed and put into use in 2026. Teachers and students of schools in the area are very happy and grateful for the great attention of the Party and State, especially the affection of General Secretary To Lam for people in the border area."

With high determination and many solutions and synchronous steps being implemented, Tuyen Quang province strives to start construction of the projects in 2025 and complete and put them into use before August 30, 2026.

Orientation for sustainable development

According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training, the total number of boarding and semi-boarding students in the province currently accounts for 36.3% of the total number of high school students in the province, a high rate showing the essential role of this model in improving people's knowledge and creating the most favorable learning conditions for children of ethnic groups.

In addition, teaching Vietnamese to ethnic minority children before entering grade 1 has also achieved positive results, with 100% of children being enhanced with Vietnamese and using it fluently before entering the official school year.

Not only focusing on quantity, Tuyen Quang also pays special attention to improving the quality of education in boarding schools. The province has been and continues to invest heavily in facilities, including building classrooms, functional rooms, housing, and auxiliary works. This investment not only creates a better learning environment but also ensures adequate living conditions for students.

In the next phase, Tuyen Quang has also had specific development orientations. One of the key solutions is to establish more junior high and high schools in disadvantaged localities, based on the foundation of existing junior high schools. At the same time, the province will consider converting some ethnic minority boarding schools into boarding schools in border communes.

The development of boarding and semi-boarding schools is not just a story about building schools or increasing the number of students. Above all, it is a story about the commitment and vision of Tuyen Quang province in eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, improving people's knowledge and ensuring social justice through education.
