'Forgot' to build My Thuan - Can Tho expressway service road?

TPO - The My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway section through Vinh Long has been put into operation, but only one side has a residential road, the other side has not, so some households have had to abandon their fields because they cannot use machinery to cultivate.

Voters in Vinh Long province have just petitioned the Ministry of Construction to consider investing in building a residential road on the remaining side of the My Thuan - Can Tho expressway through My Thuan commune.

According to voters, currently this section only has one side as a residential road, the other side does not have one, so some households have to leave their fields fallow because they cannot use machinery to cultivate.

Responding to voters, the Ministry of Construction said that the My Thuan - Can Tho expressway project phase 1 will be completed and put into use from the end of December 2023. Currently, the Ministry of Construction has reviewed and balanced 1,000 billion VND in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025, to implement additional investment procedures at the Vo Van Kiet intersection.

The Ministry of Construction also directed the My Thuan Project Management Board and design consultants to review and update local recommendations on adding a service road system (not including the service road section as recommended by voters), ditches, and drainage systems to ensure that after completion, they will meet the travel and production needs of the people.

According to the My Thuan Project Management Board, the section from Ong Bay Bridge to Khoan Tiet Bridge has been invested in a service road system along the route (right side). Adding a service road for residents on the left side as proposed by voters will incur additional costs, exceeding the total investment of the project, so it has not been implemented yet.

"The Ministry of Construction acknowledges the voters' recommendations and will direct the My Thuan Project Management Board to review and balance capital sources to consider adding to the project (if funds remain). In case the capital sources cannot be balanced, the Ministry of Construction requests the National Assembly Delegation of Vinh Long province to consult with the People's Committee of Vinh Long province to proactively invest in this item using local capital sources," said the Ministry of Construction.
