Temporarily suspend all matches in the national competition system in Vietnam

On the morning of July 20, VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi said that the VFF Standing Committee had sent a document to the Organizing Committee (OC) of football tournaments organized by VFF, with the following content: "The VFF Standing Committee directed the temporary suspension of all tournaments in the national competition system from today, July 20, until the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong (according to the State's announcement) is over before competition can resume.

The competition organizing department will contact the teams, supervisors, and referees who have matches scheduled for today to request a temporary suspension, then send a notice signed by the tournament organizer to the tournament participants as soon as possible.

U.21 matches must be suspended from the fourth round this afternoon, July 20.

Thus, the fourth round of the U.21 qualifying round this afternoon, July 20, with 12 matches in 5 groups at Viettel Center, PVF, Ham Rong Center (Pleiku, Gia Lai), Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC) and Binh Phuoc will have to be postponed. Among them, key matches such as between Dong A Thanh Hoa and Song Lam Nghe An, Quang Nam and Da Nang, Long An and HCMC or between Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc, which are decisive for the tickets to the final round, are all suspended. This will cause the match schedule to be postponed and will end later than the scheduled date. The final round of the 2024 National U.21 tournament will also have to be postponed, possibly opening after July 30.

Thong Nhat Stadium will postpone the decisive match between Long An and Ho Chi Minh City team.

Similar to the remaining two U.17 quarter-final matches taking place in Ba Ria-Vung Tau between Hong Linh Ha Tinh and Tay Ninh, LPBank HAGL and The Cong Viettel this afternoon, July 20, also had to be postponed. Thus, the semi-final and final matches of the U.17 tournament will have to be extended and cannot end on July 24 as planned. Also in the same situation, the remaining two matches of the U.16 women's football tournament taking place at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center stadium must be postponed. Specifically, on July 21, the matches between Thai Nguyen - Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi - Vietnam Minerals and on July 24, between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi and Phong Phu Ha Nam and Thai Nguyen must be postponed.

The teams and task forces have also grasped the situation and will arrange for their players to practice and rest on site until VFF has a new announcement.
