Thai Nguyen: Import and export increased by 21.9%

According to estimates, the total value of goods exports and imports in Thai Nguyen province in August 2025 reached 4 billion USD, up 21.9% over the same period. In the first 8 months, the total value of goods exports and imports in the province reached 33.7 billion USD, up 8.4% over the same period last year. The trade balance of goods continued to maintain a large surplus, about 7.6 billion USD.

Accordingly, the export value in the first 8 months reached 21 billion USD, up 4.3% over the same period; of which, exports from domestic and local economic sectors increased by 3%. Exports from the FDI sector accounted for a large proportion, reaching 20.1 billion USD, up 4.4%.

Some key export industries still maintained a good growth momentum such as: garment products reached 367.1 million USD (up 7.1%), non-ferrous metals and ore group reached 166.6 million USD (up 6.3%), wood products reached 12.4 million USD (up 9.8%)...

In particular, phones, tablets and other electronics continue to be a strength with a turnover of 19.7 billion USD, accounting for more than 95% of the total export value of the province.

On the other hand, the total import turnover of goods in the first 8 months reached 13 billion USD, up 15.5% over the same period. Of which, the domestic and local economic sector increased by 3.9%; the foreign-invested economic sector increased by 15.9%, equivalent to a turnover of 12.6 billion USD.

The main import groups still focus on raw materials and electronic components, machinery, spare parts, wood processing materials, animal feed, etc., showing that the demand for production expansion of enterprises continues to increase.

The growth rate of import and export shows that industrial production in Thai Nguyen province is recovering and developing steadily. Some key industrial product groups have completed 70-80% of the yearly plan in August, creating an important foundation for the entire industry to strive to achieve and exceed the 2025 target.

Positive signals from import-export activities and industrial production show that Thai Nguyen is continuing to promote its role as a major electronics industrial center of the country, affirming the position of the FDI enterprise sector and the rise of domestic enterprises.
