Since the days of fighting against French colonialism, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) has always played the role of the main information bridge between the Party, State and people of Vietnam.
Not only is it a media with the function of timely and accurately transmitting the country's development steps in all fields, VNA is also a bridge of friendship contributing to enhancing understanding and connection between Vietnam and peoples around the world , including Cuba.
This is the comment made by Mr. Alejandro Gomez Vega, Vice President of the Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina, in an interview with a VNA reporter in Havana on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of VNA and the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic relations.
Mr. Alejandro Gomez Vega emphasized that VNA is not only a national news agency with a wide network at home and abroad, but also an important source of news, promptly reflecting Vietnam's outstanding events and achievements in many fields.
He appreciated the role of VNA in promoting mutual understanding among peoples, especially the long-lasting friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, demonstrated through many training cooperation activities and press exchanges between the two sides.
Mr. Vega said many Vietnamese journalists have been trained in Cuba. They are the pioneers and the core of the friendship between the two brotherly countries and one of the important missions of VNA is to continue to strengthen and promote that close relationship.

Mr. Alejandro Gomez Vega also shared about VNA's position in the regional and international media ecosystem, especially in Latin America.
With a permanent network in 30 countries and coverage across all provinces and cities of Vietnam, VNA is considered a strong news agency, always quickly updating current news and issues on many continents.
In Latin America, VNA has a large readership, followed by hundreds of thousands of people, not only through news bulletins but also through special publications such as Vietnam Pictorial, contributing to enhancing understanding and connection between people in the region.
Referring to the cooperative relationship between VNA and Prensa Latina, he said the two agencies have a long history of cooperation, originating from the war period and continuing to be developed through current cooperation agreements.
He said that although many positive results have been achieved, the potential for cooperation between the two sides is still very large, especially in effectively sharing news, images, videos and other media materials.
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of VNA and the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba, Mr. Alejandro Gomez Vega expressed his hope that the two news agencies will continuously expand and enrich existing areas of cooperation, while seeking new opportunities to better serve the interests of the two peoples, contributing to the common development of the international community./.
