According to EVN, data review results show that about 3.2 million customers have electricity consumption increased by 30% or more compared to July 2025, accounting for nearly 10% of the total number of customers nationwide.
The main cause was determined to be the intense heat that lasted for many days in early August, leading to a sudden increase in the demand for electricity. Notably, on August 4, electricity consumption in the North reached a record high.
Along with checking bills, electricity companies have increased guidance for customers to use electronic applications and customer care call centers to monitor electricity consumption. However, EVN admitted that due to the high number of calls during the extremely hot days, many customers have not been able to be connected and supported in a timely manner.
In the report, EVN said that in August 2025 alone, the Northern Customer Care Call Center received 171,723 calls, of which 150,387 were successfully answered, reaching a rate of 87.58%. The calls were concentrated during the peak hot days, causing the call center to be locally overloaded.
EVN also informed that there were about 500 posts on social networks reflecting the increase in electricity bills. Upon inspection, some of the content was unverified, duplicated or untrue, causing misunderstanding and increasing public pressure. Electricity companies have proactively contacted each specific case to verify and clearly explain the electricity output and the method of calculating the bill.
