GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card memory may stop at just 28GB

According to Tech4Gamers, some of the latest leaks have revealed that Nvidia's upcoming GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card may only be equipped with 28GB of memory, instead of the initially predicted 32GB. This is a downgrade compared to the 512-bit memory bus power that the Nvidia GB202 silicon chip is said to possess.

The reason is believed to be that Nvidia has decided not to use all the memory capacity that the GB202 chip based on the Blackwell architecture has to offer. This could be a strategy by Nvidia to pave the way for higher-end versions of the RTX 5090, such as the RTX 5090 Ti, RTX 5090 Super or even the legendary Titan series.

However, despite only having 28GB of memory and a 448-bit memory bus, the RTX 5090 still promises to deliver superior performance compared to its predecessor, the RTX 4090. The RTX 5090's memory bandwidth is expected to be up to 1568 GB/s, a 50% increase over the RTX 4090.

If Nvidia does indeed plan to launch higher-end versions, users, especially gamers, can expect these graphics cards to be equipped with 32GB of GDDR7 memory and a 512-bit memory bus, along with a larger number of CUDA cores, providing top-notch graphics processing power.

However, all of the above information is still just rumors and has not been officially confirmed by Nvidia. The technology world will still have to wait to know the exact specifications of the GeForce RTX 5090 as well as other high-end versions.
