Brainstorming to arrange wishes - Not only choosing a major, but also considering the order
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , candidates can register, adjust and add their admission wishes many times from July 16 to 5:00 p.m. today (July 28) on the online system. After this time, all data will be locked for virtual filtering and official admission.
Thanks to unlimited adjustments, candidates can consider, look up floor scores, benchmark data from previous years and consult with teachers, friends and parents.
“I have made several adjustments. At first, I put my favorite major as my first choice, but then I saw that this year's scores were high, so I moved it down to my second choice and pushed the safe major to the front. I am still evaluating the score distribution to finalize it before closing the book,” Linh Dan (Newton Inter-level School, Hanoi ) shared.
Nguyen Thu Hoai ( Bac Ninh ) said: "I like psychology, but this year the minimum scores at schools are higher than I expected. I am considering changing the order accordingly."

Up to now, most universities have announced the minimum score for admission based on the method of using high school graduation exam scores. The minimum score ranges from 14 to 25 points, the most common being in the range of 15-19 points.
Knowing the minimum score helps candidates more accurately assess their chances of admission, and determine which wishes to keep, change, or eliminate.
Despite being adjusted many times, the biggest pressure for many candidates still lies in arranging the order of their wishes in a reasonable way. Because the system will consider from the first wish onwards and stop at the first wish with enough points, choosing which major to put first can directly affect the chance of being admitted.
“I like Journalism, but I am afraid of failing, so I prioritize a major with a high chance of being accepted first. I don’t want my favorite major to be eliminated unfortunately just because of an unreasonable order,” said Nguyen Luu Anh (Phu Tho).
However, there are still people who are steadfast in their passion, accepting risks to keep their favorite industry in the first place.
“I think if I fail the major I want, I am willing to retake the exam. I don’t want to study any major just because it is easy to get into,” Tra My (Hanoi) shared.
Don't be subjective even if it's adjusted many times.
According to Ms. Doan Thi Tra, lecturer at the Diplomatic Academy and in charge of admissions at Sheffield Hallam University, candidates can divide their wishes according to the strategy of "3 groups - 1 goal".
Group 1 is high aspirations. This group includes your favorite majors and schools but has a slightly higher admission score than your current ability. You should put 1-2 aspirations in this group at the top of the list.
Group 2 is the medium choice. This group includes majors and schools that are suitable for your actual academic ability and have a high chance of being accepted. This is the group that should have the largest number of choices, about 3-4 choices, arranged in the middle position.
Group 3 is a sure wish. This group includes majors and schools with admission scores lower than your ability, ensuring a chance of passing if you fail the above wishes. You need to have at least 1-2 wishes in this group.

In addition, although the system allows multiple adjustments to wishes, experts advise candidates not to be subjective. According to Ms. Tran Thu Thuy, lecturer at the Diplomatic Academy, common errors such as incorrect major codes, choosing the wrong combination, or forgetting to save changes can directly affect the admission results.
Candidates need to pay special attention to carefully checking personal information, school code, major code, combination and order of wishes, save information after each adjustment to ensure the system updates accurately. At the same time, candidates need to perform operations early, avoid waiting at the last minute, many people entering at the same time can cause the system to overload.
According to the 2025 university and college admissions guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training, from August 13 to 5:00 p.m. on August 20, training institutions will upload data and admission information; high school graduation exam scores; high school study results on the system; exam scores... (if any) and organize admissions.
The Ministry of Education and Training also processes the system to determine the highest wish among the wishes for which the candidate is eligible to be admitted.
By 5:00 p.m. on August 20, training institutions will enter the admission scores and admission results into the system. Review and prepare to announce the first round of admission results according to the general schedule.
Training institutions will notify first round successful candidates before 5:00 p.m. on August 22.
Candidates confirm online admission for the first round on the System before 5:00 p.m. on August 30.
