On September 17, according to information from Quang Ngai General Hospital, patient VT (91 years old, residing in Nghia Giang commune) was brought to the hospital by his family in a state of difficulty breathing, dizziness, and physical exhaustion, weighing only 30kg.
Upon examination, the doctor discovered that the patient's heart rate was only 39 beats per minute (while a normal person's heart rate is 60 - 90 beats per minute). The patient had many underlying medical conditions such as high blood pressure, gastritis, gastroesophageal reflux, and chronic bronchitis.
Doctors of the Interventional Cardiology - Geriatrics Department consulted and decided to perform surgery to place a permanent pacemaker to save the patient.

Master, Doctor Nguyen Hong Vuong, Department of Interventional Cardiology - Geriatrics, Provincial General Hospital said that the surgery encountered many difficulties because the patient was old, had thin chest muscles, and was susceptible to infection. In addition, the patient had chronic bronchitis, so the operation had to be extremely careful to avoid complications such as hemothorax and pneumothorax. After nearly 2 hours, the team completed the surgery.
Currently, the patient's heart rate has stabilized at 60 beats/minute, health is gradually recovering, and activities are normal.
