Patient NQD (14 years old, residing in Phuoc Diem commune, Thuan Nam district, Ninh Thuan) was admitted to the hospital on February 15, with symptoms of headache lasting more than 1 month accompanied by dizziness, a lump in the head. Through examination and paraclinical tests, the doctor discovered that patient D. had a meningioma invading the superior sagittal sinus - thought to be a meningioma.
The patient underwent a 4-hour surgery by the Neurosurgery team to remove all tumor tissue under a microscope, the tumor tissue infiltrating the dura mater and the underlying brain parenchyma. The patient is now conscious, responsive, and has no signs of weakness or neurological damage. The patient is expected to be discharged in the next few days.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Head of the Department of Neurosurgery, Ninh Thuan General Hospital, recommends that parents, when discovering that their children have symptoms of prolonged headaches, should take them to the doctor early for timely treatment. When patients with brain tumors or cerebral hemorrhages are given emergency treatment during the "golden" time, the patient will soon recover and will not become a burden to the family or society after treatment.
