Dong Nai allocates nearly 666 billion VND to repair and maintain national highways

(DN) - On September 24, according to the Provincial People's Committee, Dong Nai province approved the road infrastructure maintenance plan for national highways in 2025 and 2026 in the province managed by the Department of Construction.

Accordingly, Dong Nai province has allocated an estimated budget of nearly 666 billion VND from the province's transport capital and the central budget allocated to the locality for transitional projects. Of which, the budget for regular management and maintenance of national highways is more than 15 billion VND and the budget for periodic repairs of national highways is more than 650 billion VND.

According to the plan, in 2025, Dong Nai province will carry out periodic repairs on National Highway 51 with the item of repairing damaged road surface, completing the traffic safety system for the following sections: from Km0+000 - Km5+300; from Km5+300 - Km9+200; from Km10+200 - Km12+000; from Km14+000 - Km16+000 and from Km20+000 - Km24+400.

In 2026, repair damaged road surfaces and complete the traffic safety system on sections of National Highways 1, 20, 51, and 56. Particularly for National Highway 51, additional repair items will be carried out to expand joints of 4 bridges on the route (Nuoc Trong, Suoi Ca, Quan Tre, Ban 2), improve the longitudinal drainage system, and close the openings of the median strip and border median strip.

Also in 2026, Dong Nai province will carry out regular management and maintenance work on national highways 1, 13, 14C 20, 51, and 56.

Regarding National Highway 51 passing through the province, according to the Provincial People's Committee, at the time of transfer to Dong Nai province in early July 2025, this national highway was in a state of serious road deterioration, with many potholes, ruts, flooding, etc., and traffic congestion often occurred due to the large volume of vehicles on the route, posing a potential risk of traffic accidents. In addition, the system of signs and traffic lights on national highways still had many shortcomings.

Meanwhile, the budget for regular maintenance management in the last 6 months of 2025 is 3 billion VND, which is not enough to meet the needs of repairing damages for effective exploitation of the route.

Therefore, immediately after receiving the project, Dong Nai province assigned the Department of Construction to direct the maintenance unit to regularly check and patch damaged areas; supplement faded paint lines, damaged signs... to ensure traffic during the repair project preparation period.

Currently, the Department of Construction is focusing on preparing survey documents and establishing a project to repair National Highway 51. Construction is expected to begin in December 2025. After implementation, the above shortcomings will be overcome, ensuring the route is operated effectively, meeting transportation needs and aesthetics on the route.
