Vietnamese students won two gold medals at the International Physics Olympiad

The Ministry of Education and Training said it has just received information on the official results of the Vietnam National Team participating in the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2023.

Accordingly, the Vietnam National Team of 5 students competed and all 5 students won medals, including: 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal.

Specifically, the two gold medals went to Nguyen Tuan Phong, grade 12, Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted (Bac Ninh province); and Vo Hoang Hai, grade 11, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).

The two students who won silver medals were Nguyen Tuan Duong, grade 12, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted ( Hai Phong ) and Le Viet Hoang Anh, grade 12, Lam Son High School for the Gifted (Thanh Hoa province).

The bronze medal went to Phan The Manh, grade 12, Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted (Bac Ninh province).

The 2023 IPhO will be hosted by Japan. After a one-year postponement and two years of online participation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 53rd edition will be held in person from July 10 to 17 with the participation of 398 candidates from 84 countries and territories, becoming the largest IPhO ever.

With 100% of students winning medals, including 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal, the Vietnamese team is in the top group of the IPhO 2023 exam. "The students' practical test scores have improved significantly, showing that practical and experimental training has received more attention," said the Ministry of Education and Training.

Also according to the Ministry of Education and Training: "The excellent achievements of the Vietnam National Team at IPhO 2023 continue to affirm the quality of general education, and at the same time affirm the right direction in the work of discovering, selecting and nurturing excellent students of the Ministry of Education and Training".
