Mobilizing forces to help people cope with floods in Ha Hoa

Faced with the situation of water level on Thao River, in Ha Hoa continuing to rise, military units, police and local authorities have mobilized maximum forces to support people in responding to natural disasters, especially in low-lying communes and riverside areas such as: Hien Luong, Dan Thuong, Bang Gia, Xuan Ang...

Many boats and iron boats were mobilized by the police force to Hien Luong commune to support the evacuation of people and property from flooded areas.

By 5 p.m. on September 9, the water level of Thao River at Am Thuong Hydrological Station had risen to over 27.44m, exceeding the alarm level No. 3 by over 1.44m, causing severe damage to many rice and crop areas, and houses to be submerged in water. Ha Hoa District had 375 households flooded, 57 households had to be evacuated. Hien Luong was the locality with the largest number of households flooded due to the impact of storm No. 3 with 205 households and 770 people having to be evacuated.

Mr. Le Dang Hung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Hien Luong Commune said: The whole commune has 13 residential areas with over 2,800 households. Flooded households are mainly concentrated in areas 3, 6, 7, 8, 9. Many areas are flooded up to 2m deep and completely isolated. Currently, the river water level continues to rise, the commune will continue to review households that must be relocated to safe locations, evacuate people from dangerous areas; at the same time, review key dike points on National Highway 32 and Dong Pham dike to block sandbags to prevent water from overflowing the dike, affecting local rice and crops; assign forces to be on duty, monitor the situation of flooded and at-risk areas, and be ready to support households affected by natural disasters.

Local residents and authorities moved vehicles such as motorbikes, electric bicycles... of residents in Zone 8, Hien Luong Commune onto boats and brought them to a safe location.

The assets of more than 60 households in Zone 3, Hien Luong Commune were also assisted by police officers and soldiers to move out of the flooded area.

Flooding not only occurred in Hien Luong commune, in Dan Thuong commune, functional forces also coordinated with local authorities to support the evacuation of people and property of 122 households to safe locations; at the same time, support people to harvest rice and crops in flooded low-lying areas, riverside areas, minimizing property damage when floodwaters on the river continue to rise.

Faced with the complicated situation of rain and storms, the river water level continues to rise, the District Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue together with the District Police, District Military Command and communes and towns are ready with forces, materials and means to evacuate households from dangerous areas; ensure enough food and essential necessities to serve the lives of people in flooded areas. Mobilize the 4 local forces to urgently build soil and rocks to prevent water from overflowing the dikes in the communes along the Ta Thao and Huu Thao dikes to minimize the area of ​​rice and crops damaged. At the same time, strengthen propaganda on mass media about the developments of rain and storms and advise people not to be subjective and negligent in the face of natural disasters to ensure the safety of people and property.
