On the social network Truth Social, Mr. Trump wrote: “Joe Biden should take a cognitive test immediately, I will go with him and take the same test.
For the first time we will be on the same team and take that action for the good of the country… From now on, all presidential candidates must be required to take cognitive and aptitude tests, regardless of their age.”
The US will hold a presidential election on November 5. Mr. Trump has won the Republican presidential nomination. Meanwhile, President Biden, who is running for a second term, has won enough delegates to receive the Democratic nomination.
Both are expected to be confirmed as presidential candidates at their respective party conventions, but after their performance in the June 27 election debate with Mr. Trump, there are growing calls for President Biden to drop out of the race.
According to Reuters, currently 17 of the 213 Democrats in the House of Representatives and 1 of the 51 Democrats in the Senate have publicly called on President Biden to withdraw from the race. However, observers say this number could increase.
At a press conference on July 11, President Biden reaffirmed that he would not give up, despite growing calls.
"I'm not in this race for my legacy. I'm here to finish the job I started," he said. "If I get slow and can't finish the job, that's my sign to stop. But I haven't had that sign yet." "I beat him and I'll do it again," Biden said.
