The film “Red Rain” was adapted from the novel of the same name by writer Chu Lai, vividly and emotionally recreating the brave fight of our army and people during 81 days and nights to protect Quang Tri Citadel in 1972. Not only stopping at fierce battles, the work also reflects the tense battle of wits at the negotiating table at the Paris Conference, thereby denouncing war crimes, while honoring the justice of the Vietnamese people, the desire for peace and the spirit of reconciliation to unify the country.

With its profound historical educational values, the film "Red Rain" is not only a film but has become a special extracurricular lesson. Many schools in Ha Tinh have proactively brought students to the cinema, turning the movie viewing into a meaningful visual experience, helping them approach history vividly through the language of cinema.

Students of class 8C, Xuan Dieu Secondary School participated in watching the movie "Red Rain".

On September 20, the homeroom teacher, parents and 38 students of class 8C, Xuan Dieu Secondary School (Can Loc commune) organized a special extracurricular trip to CGV Ha Tinh cinema to watch the movie "Red Rain". For many students, this was the first time they had directly enjoyed a historical film on the big screen, so they were very excited and nervous. The atmosphere in the cinema was both solemn and calm before the film footage recreating the war, and exciting because of the curiosity and eagerness of the students when they experienced a "history lesson" in a completely new form.

To Thi Khanh Chi, a student of class 8C - Xuan Dieu Secondary School, expressed: "The film "Red Rain" touched my heart, making me deeply moved by the brave sacrifices of the previous generation. From those films, I not only saw the fierceness of war but also felt more clearly the value of peace. This is not an obvious thing but the result of blood and tears. I understand that the responsibility of today's young generation is to preserve and promote those achievements. Therefore, I will try to study well, constantly practice to improve myself, worthy of what our ancestors have contributed."

The scenes in "Red Rain" help students understand more about the brutality of war...

The trip to the cinema not only brought historical experiences to students but also created a special space for connection between teachers and students. Many teachers shared that watching movies with students and discussing the stories recreated on screen helped to erase the distance, creating a more natural and deeper connection.

Ms. Dang Thi Hai Yen - homeroom teacher of class 8C said: "I was surprised to see that the students not only watched attentively but were also truly moved. This shows that cinema has great power in conveying emotions. If in the classroom, historical knowledge is often conveyed through numbers and events, then at the cinema, students get to live in real films. They feel the pain and sacrifice of previous generations. As a teacher, I realize that experiences like this will be more deeply engraved in the students' minds than just memorizing from books. It not only helps them understand but also nurtures gratitude and national pride."

The film "Red Rain" has aroused curiosity and pride in national history for students of Le Huu Trac High School.

On September 21, Le Huu Trac High School (Tu My Commune) also organized for 200 students to watch the movie “Red Rain” at the theater. After watching the movie, many students were not only moved but also deeply reflected on the value of history and their own responsibilities.

Student Luong Yen Nhi - Secretary of Youth Union 12A, Le Huu Trac High School confided: "When watching the movie, there were details that made me choke up, as if I were living in a real wartime. History is no longer dry lines but the sacrifice, the pain and the courage of the previous generation. From that, I realized something profound: studying history is not simply to know the events that happened, but more importantly to understand and determine one's own responsibilities. We need to know what we should do to be worthy of those sacrifices, to contribute to the development of the country in the present and the future."

Accompanying the students in this activity, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dung - Secretary of the Youth Union of Le Huu Trac High School said: "We always want students to not only acquire knowledge through books but also learn from real, vivid experiences. The screening of the movie "Red Rain" is a typical example of that way of learning. After the screening, I was very happy to see the students discussing and exchanging enthusiastically. This proves that the movie not only provides information but also really touches the students' awareness and emotions, arousing curiosity and pride in the nation's history."

Class 12A2 - Cam Binh High School watches the movie "Red Rain".

The extracurricular movie watching sessions of Ha Tinh students are clear evidence that cinema is becoming an effective channel for historical education if exploited appropriately. If historical knowledge in books is just timelines and numbers, the big screen is a flow of emotions. Here, students not only learn about war but also "live" in that atmosphere, feeling the sacrifices of previous generations. This not only helps them absorb knowledge easily but also sows the seeds of compassion and strong pride in their roots.

Mr. Nguyen Tri Hung - Director of CGV Ha Tinh cinema shared that the film "Red Rain" has created a positive wave in the local education sector. Many schools, from urban to rural areas, have proactively contacted to bring students to the cinema. According to him, this not only shows the school's concern but also proves that they have recognized the value of combining education with cultural experiences. This is an important step forward, opening up a new direction in conveying historical knowledge in a more effective and attractive way.

In the context of the entire education sector striving to innovate teaching methods, especially in History, creative methods like this become even more necessary. From a movie viewing session, students not only understand history through numbers or events, but also deeply feel the value of peace and visualize the loss and pain of war. More importantly, that experience has helped them remind themselves of their responsibilities and ideals in life, to become citizens worthy of what their ancestors sacrificed for the country.
