Awarding emulation prizes for "Good workers, creative workers" right at the sewing line

Effective initiatives

Previously, for buttons with smooth sides, workers had to sort the surface of each button and then manually place it into the machine. It was a small operation but it took a lot of time and was prone to errors. In early 2025, the initiative "Relay-based Button Surface Sorting System" was applied, bringing about obvious results.

This sensor system recognizes colors, sorts the buttons correctly, arranges them, and feeds them directly into the sewing machine. No more workers fumbling with buttons, and no more sewing mistakes. The whole production line is "unleashed".

“In the past, distinguishing the right and left sides of buttons was a nightmare. Looking at them for too long made me dizzy, and if I put them on the wrong way, the product would be defective, and the whole line would have to stop to fix it. Now with the automatic eye detection system, workers are much more comfortable,” said Hoang Thuy Trang, a worker on the sewing line.

Mr. Vo Nhat Duy, Research and Development Department, Head of the initiative "Detector system combined with relay to classify button surface" said: This is a technology that supports the classification of buttons based on color, especially useful for orders using buttons with two smooth sides, which are very difficult to distinguish with the naked eye. The detector system combined with switching and control signal transmission equipment is a new innovation, applied for the first time at the company. This technology uses a color sensor combined with an automatic programming controller to classify buttons completely automatically, replacing manual operations. The system is capable of adjusting to suit many different types of buttons, allowing for widespread deployment throughout the factory or at other units and partners in the garment industry, helping to optimize investment costs and synchronize the production line.

If buttons were once considered a “knot”, then hanger clips are a “bottleneck” in the finishing stage. In garment manufacturing, the proportion of products requiring hangers accounts for 65% of total output. Previously, it took workers 8 seconds to manually clip each product. In one day, the labor cost was up to dozens of people.

With the initiative of “Automatic hook clamping and unclamping device”, the time is reduced to 4 seconds/product. Productivity is doubled: From 3,500 to 7,000 products/8 hours. In fact, one factory alone can reduce 3 workers/day, saving about 300 million VND/year.

It is worth mentioning that this device reuses cylinders, steam lines, and slides from old machines, and the manufacturing cost is very low. This initiative is currently being applied in 5 garment factories under the company.

In addition to the above two initiatives, Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company has hundreds of other initiatives, from small improvements in operations and equipment to larger-scale technological solutions. The common point is that they all help save costs, reduce material waste, and improve productivity and product quality. This diversity has created a rich "innovation bank", contributing significantly to helping businesses maintain growth and stand firm in the current volatile textile and garment industry.

Cadres, union members and workers received awards from the contest "Good Initiative - Share Now" launched by the Trade Union of Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company

Create motivation

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hau, Deputy General Director, Chairman of the Trade Union of Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company, said that the emulation movement "Good workers, creative workers" has always been highly valued by the company and the trade union, creating a driving force for all union members and employees to enthusiastically participate. From the applied initiatives, the company has saved billions of dong each year.

According to Mr. Hau, the most important thing in organizing the movement is to promptly encourage and reward to encourage the spirit of creativity. Whenever there is a new initiative with clear efficiency in production, workers will be rewarded immediately at the factory; then, the initiative will be selected, continued to be rewarded in the quarter and yearly summary. This method ensures that all innovation efforts are recognized fairly and promptly. "Every quarter, the company coordinates with the union to spend 100 million VND to reward individuals and groups with many outstanding initiatives and improvements in the creative labor movement," Mr. Hau shared.

The difference in the way Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company works is that no idea is left untouched. For workers who have initiatives but find it difficult to express them in writing, the innovation council will assign staff to accompany, support rewriting, explaining and defending the ideas before the council. Thanks to this companionship, many initiatives from production practices, which originated from simple operations on the sewing line, have become useful solutions, widely applied throughout the company.

The process of discovering and replicating innovations is systematically implemented from the grassroots. Each workshop and factory maintains an innovation council, which is both an evaluation team and an incubator for ideas. Outstanding innovations will be selected by the company, continue to complete their profiles, and present them in innovation competitions at the city, textile industry level nationwide and even at the central level. Thanks to that, for many consecutive years, Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company has always been on the list of units that have won high awards for the movement "Good workers, creative workers" from the industry level to the central level.
