Strengthening guidance on rice care for the 2025 Spring crop

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, up to now, the area of ​​spring rice cultivation in the whole province is 34,854 hectares, reaching 98.79% of the plan. Currently, the rice plants are in the greening - tillering stage; some pests and diseases such as blast disease, rats... have appeared. This is an important time to determine the yield if cared for and prevented from pests and diseases properly.

According to the forecast of the Viet Bac Regional Hydrometeorological Station, from now until the end of February, the weather will remain at a low temperature below ^200C , combined with prolonged light rain and high humidity, which is very favorable for harmful fungi to develop, affecting growth and development, reducing crop yields.

Faced with the above situation, to ensure the successful implementation of the spring rice production plan targets and the whole year 2025, overcoming unfavorable weather conditions, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development recommends that localities focus on directing specialized departments and units to increase their visits to the grassroots to direct farmers to sow and plant the entire area according to plan; provide instructions on rice care from the beginning, conduct pruning and patching to ensure density, and maintain water levels in the fields at 2-3 cm.

For rice areas that have not been fertilized for the first time, and the rice has taken root and turned green, farmers are instructed to fertilize when the temperature is above ^150C with 12kg NPK-S 12.5.10-14/sao or 3-4kg nitrogen + 2-3kg potassium/sao (or use other organic fertilizers or specialized fertilizers according to the manufacturer's recommendations); combine with mud aeration to help the root system develop, increase the ability to absorb nutrients, and limit physiological diseases.

Strengthen field inspection to detect early and direct timely and effective prevention and control of pests and diseases right from the beginning of the season, paying special attention to rice blast disease; organize well the concentrated rat extermination campaign from now until March 15, 2025.
