TKV strengthens coal quality management

In order to meet the market demand, in recent years, Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV) has paid special attention to the management of raw coal quality at mines. Management is reflected in many factors, but mainly focuses on technology and methods.

In terms of technology, most mines have calculated and applied technology suitable to geological conditions and production practices, helping to effectively manage the quality of raw coal right at the furnace mirrors. On the other hand, methods of separating impurities, classifying coal right from the furnace to the ground; deep processing and ensuring the quality of coal appraisal have also brought about significant results.

According to geological documents, Vang Danh mine has about 35% of the seam area with a slope of over 45 degrees. The seam area under 35 degrees accounts for over 61% of the total output. In order to exploit the resources and ensure the quality of coal at these locations, Vang Danh Coal has chosen the support technology suitable for the geological conditions of the mine. The ZRY soft support rig is one of the optimal choices for the mining conditions in these seam areas.

When applying the ZRY soft platform to mining, the labor productivity of Vang Danh Coal increased by 7-8 tons/work, coal recovery reached 95%, the cost of the furnace meter decreased, ventilation was good; the working conditions of the workers were improved. The output of the longwall mining increased to 110,000-120,000 tons of coal/year. In particular, with different technical characteristics from the currently applied support technologies, the ZRY platform allows to reduce the entire thickness of the coal seam, almost overcoming the situation of the pillar and wall rocks mixed into the coal. This contributes to ensuring the quality of raw coal for the mine.

These types of support and synchronous systems have helped Vang Danh Coal ensure labor safety, maximize resource recovery and ensure the quality of raw coal" - Mr. Ngo Van Cu, Head of the Company's Engineering - Mining Technology Department said.

The management of raw coal quality is carried out in the first step at the mines, the specialized, large-scale processing and screening systems of TKV will take on the next task to improve the quality of coal types before supplying to the market. With the goal of increasing the value of resources and meeting the increasing demand of the market, TKV has focused on investing and modernizing the coal processing chain system at downstream units. Coal processing not only helps TKV proactively control product quality but also creates a solid foundation for sustainable development.

According to Mr. Dinh Tu Anh, Deputy Director of Quang Ninh Coal Processing Company, currently, the company's production lines in particular, and TKV's coal processing center in general, are invested synchronously from coal screening and washing technology to mixing and blending high-quality coal. The technological lines are highly automated, applying centralized control systems, surveillance cameras, and quantitative scales, helping to strictly control technical parameters right at the production site.

Coal appraisal is also built by TKV as an important “shield” to ensure product quality, brand reputation and benefits for both customers and businesses. As a bridge between production and consumption, appraisal activities not only contribute to strictly controlling coal quality but also improve production and business efficiency, meeting increasingly strict market requirements.
