Speaking at the meeting, comrade Ngo Duy Hieu emphasized: The survey program aims to comprehensively assess the current situation, difficulties and challenges facing trade union organizations; thereby proposing solutions to innovate the content and methods of operation, improve the effectiveness of caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers. This is an urgent requirement in the context of deep international integration and the strong impact of the 4th Industrial Revolution, which is rapidly changing the labor structure, environment and labor relations.
Thai Nguyen currently has over 198 thousand workers, of which the Provincial Federation of Labor directly manages more than 140 thousand union members with 487 grassroots unions. In recent years, the movement of workers, civil servants, laborers and union activities in the area has achieved many positive results: Nearly 1,000 dialogues were organized; 89.5% of enterprises have signed collective labor agreements; inspection and supervision work has been strengthened with 18 meetings from 2023 to present, recording more than 100 recommendations related to labor regimes, policies and laws. Along with that, many activities to care for the spiritual and material life of workers and laborers have been implemented in a rich and diverse manner.
Comrade Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, spoke at the meeting. |
However, the provincial trade union activities are facing many challenges when the labor structure changes rapidly, the number of informal workers, migrant workers, workers in small enterprises and foreign-invested sectors increases rapidly, while the resources of the trade union organization are limited. In addition, the impact of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution requires trade unions to innovate faster in their approach and organization of activities, meeting the new needs of workers...
Previously, the working group conducted a field survey at a number of local enterprises, learning about the lives and jobs of workers and grassroots trade union activities. The survey results in Thai Nguyen are one of the important bases for the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to build a Strategy for adaptation and development of trade union organizations in the new period.
