How does Vietnam create a special UAV-killing 'killer'?

The VCU5 anti-drone reconnaissance and jamming complex is one of the weapons being produced by Vietnam to counter UAVs, protect key areas, and is suitable for modern warfare.

In modern warfare, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have become popular because they are cheap, easy to manufacture and sell. Even civilian equipment can be modified to serve military purposes.

With effective reconnaissance capabilities, UAVs can fly low and compact, making them difficult for radar to detect, while transmitting live data on images and coordinates, helping the enemy quickly locate targets and adjust firepower.

Notably, many UAVs are also equipped with weapons such as bombs, missiles or used as suicide vehicles, creating an asymmetric threat, when a cheap vehicle can destroy equipment worth millions of dollars or target critical infrastructure that directly affects national security.

Therefore, the production of anti-UAV equipment has become an urgent requirement, ensuring defense and adaptability in modern warfare and combat environments.

At the recent exhibition of national achievements "80 years of journey of independence - freedom - happiness" (Dong Anh commune, Hanoi), Viettel introduced two versions of the VCU5 anti-drone reconnaissance and jamming complex - the EMP version and the tactical version of VCU5 with superior features.

VCU5 - EMP is a tactical-level UAV reconnaissance and jamming complex, integrating an electronic pulse subsystem, capable of reconnaissance, detection, identification, positioning, radio interference and electronic pulse suppression to shoot down enemy UAVs.

This complex has the role of protecting key areas, the electronic pulse subsystem is integrated on military trucks, can be deployed and recovered quickly, suitable for modern operations.

VCU5 - EMP includes the following components: radio reconnaissance, radar, optoelectronics, jamming system, EMP electronic pulse system, command and control system. The radio jamming mode is configured according to user requirements, jamming power of hundreds of W, effective radiation power of electronic pulse up to GW...

Meanwhile, the tactical VCU5 version is a shortened version of the VCU5 - EMP and is mounted on a pickup truck, suitable for modern operations with the ability to deploy and recover quickly.

Compared with VCU5 - EMP, the combat component of the tactical VCU5 is reduced to electronic reconnaissance station, jamming system and command and control system.
