(NLDO)- After 8 years, Ho Chi Minh City has held the top position in the country in terms of average English score in the high school graduation exam. This year, the top position belongs to Hanoi.

On the afternoon of July 15, the Ministry of Education and Training officially announced the score distribution of 12 subjects for the 2025 high school graduation exam.

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Education and Training, Ho Chi Minh City has many surprising results in this year's high school graduation exam. Specifically, it has the highest score of 10 in physics in the country with 634 scores of 10, and biology also leads the country with 20 scores of 10.

Meanwhile, in English, Ho Chi Minh City has always led the country in average English scores for 8 consecutive years, but this year it ranked 2nd, after Hanoi .

However, the average score of English and the 10 points this year are only relative because after the merger, Ho Chi Minh City included students from Binh Duong (old) and Ba Ria - Vung Tau (old) provinces. After the merger, nearly 62,000 candidates chose English as their optional exam. Of these, 29 scored 10 points. Hanoi had nearly 60,000 candidates taking the English exam with 56 tests scoring 10 points.

The 2025 high school graduation exam took place on June 26 and 27 with about 1.1 million candidates. Candidates following the new general education program, in addition to two compulsory exams of math and literature, will choose two subjects they have studied in the program. Nearly 353,000 candidates chose English. Ho Chi Minh City is the locality with the largest number of candidates choosing English as an optional exam in the country.
