This year, the Council of Professors of Economics continues to be "hot" when recording a record high number of candidates with 153 registrations (including 11 professor candidates and 142 associate professor candidates).
Among the 26 professional and interdisciplinary professorships, the Economics Council continues to lead in the number of candidates. Compared to last year, this field has increased by 45 applications, of which the number of professor candidates increased by 5 people, and the number of associate professor candidates increased by 40 people.
The 2025 Economics Professorship Council has just announced the results of its first meeting (held yesterday, September 13). At this meeting, the council members publicly discussed the results of the candidate profile assessment, discussed and commented on each candidate.
Today, September 14, the council announced a list of 146 qualified candidates, with a general scientific report and foreign language assessment.
There were 8 professor candidates and 138 associate professor candidates presenting general scientific reports, of which 3 associate professor candidates presented conditionally.
The list of candidates is presented with a general scientific report here.
These candidates must prepare a general scientific report according to the regulations of the State Council of Professors in Vietnamese and English, and print 17 copies to send to the council members when the candidate reports.
Candidates present a comprehensive scientific report directly in English and on PowerPoint. Presentation time and answer questions from the council: 40 minutes for professor candidates, 20 minutes for associate professor candidates.
According to the Council of Professors of Economics, professor candidates present first, associate professor candidates present later in order A, B, C and priority is given to candidates from distant provinces to present first.
The Council discussed and asked the candidate questions about the content of the general scientific report and content related to the candidate's expertise, and assessed the candidate's English communication skills.
2nd session, the council reviews the candidate's general scientific report from September 15 to September 20.
At the same time, the council also announced a list of candidates who were not qualified for a general scientific report and foreign language assessment, including 7 candidates (3 professor candidates and 4 associate professor candidates).
Thus, these 7 candidates were eliminated early in this year's Economic Council.
The number of candidates for professor and associate professor of economics this year has increased dramatically.
The number of candidates for positions in the Council of Professors in Economics has fluctuated strongly in recent years. If in 2019 there were only 42 candidates (including 7 professors and 35 associate professors), by 2020, this number had skyrocketed to 68 people (14 professors, 54 associate professors) - equivalent to an increase of 61.9%.
The increasing trend continues in the following years, with 102 candidates in 2023 and 108 in 2024. In particular, this year marks a spike with 153 registered candidates, an increase of 41.67% compared to the previous year and more than 3.6 times higher than in 2019 (an increase of 261.9%).
