Symbolic work of Cambodia - Vietnam friendship

On the afternoon of June 12, in the capital Phnom Penh, the Cambodian National Assembly solemnly held a handover ceremony for the new administrative building sponsored by Vietnam, a symbol of solidarity and friendship between the two countries.

The event was solemnly held under the chairmanship of Mr. Leng Peng Long, Secretary General of the Cambodian National Assembly . Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu attended the event, along with representatives of relevant ministries and branches, as well as consulting units, supervising and constructing the project.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary General of the Cambodian National Assembly Leng Peng Long said that the administrative building was officially handed over and put into operation as a meaningful gift, demonstrating the affection of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for the State and people of Cambodia.

According to him, this is one of many activities that Vietnam has provided for Cambodia based on the spirit of friendship and solidarity, especially the principles of respecting independence, sovereignty , territorial integrity and good neighborliness, and regular mutual support between the two neighboring countries Cambodia and Vietnam.

“It is a particularly noble and priceless friendship,” he stressed.

In addition to reviewing the construction progress of the project handed over this time, the Secretary General of the Cambodian National Assembly also shared his own feelings, a living witness of the Cambodia - Vietnam friendship in the historical process. In his memory, under the French colonial period, the two peoples of Cambodia and Vietnam united to fight and liberate the country from colonialism.

After that, the two countries continued to unite in the struggle to expel the invading imperialists, moving towards the unification of Vietnam in 1975. When the country of pagodas was facing the risk of destruction under the genocidal regime of Pol Pot, Vietnam came to help Cambodia revive, supporting the construction of an administrative and military apparatus, capable of effectively protecting itself until today.

From that historical memory, Mr. Leng Peng Long said that the construction of the administrative building - a gift from the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the State and people of Cambodia, is a model of cooperation demonstrating the commitment to strengthening friendship between the two nations. According to him, friendship is a need of two neighboring nations, which must be held together, aiming towards peace and development of each nation and people.

The new 12-storey Administrative Building of the Cambodian National Assembly, with a total investment of 25 million USD, is funded by Vietnam.

Construction of the new administrative building of the Cambodian National Assembly began in late 2021 and was inaugurated on November 21, 2024, chaired by President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Khuon Sudary and President of the Vietnamese National Assembly Tran Thanh Man.
