The class is part of a training cooperation agreement between Tuoi Tre newspaper and Hoa Sen University. According to the agreement, students will study the "media text creation skills" course at Tuoi Tre newspaper.
Practical learning, practical practice
The lecturers who instruct students are journalists with extensive experience in both the profession and teaching journalism. Each class is not just a lecture, but a time to bring the story of the profession into the classroom with vivid lessons from the practice of journalism and communication.
During the class, each group of students took turns presenting a real-life communication project that they had built themselves. Whether it was a community campaign, brand communication or promoting a movie, all were presented in the form of a communication plan with a system of documents such as PR articles, press releases, social media content and main slogan.
The groups all invested heavily in visuals, presentation design, music, and video editing. However, what made many students break out was not the performance, but the insightful comments from the lecturer after each presentation.
After the feedback, groups were given the opportunity to revise their work during the lesson. Each group chose a text or presentation that was not good enough to adjust, supplement, and improve. Some groups rewrote the ending to be more emotional, others changed the slogan, or added dialogue and storytelling elements.
The classroom atmosphere becomes lively, no one is afraid to be corrected, because "learning mistakes - correcting mistakes" while still studying is a method to help students progress the fastest.
Grow from experience
Many students commented that the classes here are like real-life exercises, because they get to practice more than learn theory - Photo: HO NHUONG
Among the students who completed the course at Tuoi Tre newspaper, Lai Tri Thuan - a second-year student of marketing and communication - said this experience helped him better understand communication and how to write articles, which were previously quite vague.
Studying in an editorial environment, Thuan not only has access to professional knowledge, but is also inspired by teachers and journalists who are always dedicated and ready to guide him in every detail, even outside of class hours.
With a dream of making films, Thuan sees the lessons here as a source of energy to add motivation. From how to build a media campaign to writing PR articles, press releases, and even creative scripts, he applies everything flexibly and with inspiration.
For student Pham Thao, the most valuable thing is to "learn for real, work for real".
According to Thao, the class is not too heavy on theory, but instead consists of challenging exercises that force students to delve into research, practice writing skills and critical thinking. Thao believes that it is thanks to these "just-difficult" exercises that you have the opportunity to improve and perfect little by little.
"Each student has a different way of absorbing knowledge, so what impressed me most during my time studying at Tuoi Tre newspaper was the flexibility and dedication of the teachers.
The teachers not only impart knowledge in one direction, but also always observe, listen and adjust their teaching methods to suit each group and individual. Thanks to that, each lesson becomes easy to understand, easy to access and truly effective for each student," Thao shared.

As for My Quyen, the first days of studying at Tuoi Tre newspaper left an unforgettable impression, from the facilities, working style to the professionalism of the journalists.
It is this environment that makes you quickly become more serious about your studies and your passion. Studying in a clearly professional atmosphere makes you feel like you are really touching the breath of the industry.
Apply for future jobs
Student Trinh Tran Ngoc Khanh Vy highly appreciated the practice hours, when the group was able to develop the exercises themselves, then receive detailed feedback from the lecturer. That is the way of learning that Vy believes is easiest to remember, easy to apply and most effective in future work.
Not only did Vy learn skills, she also felt the respect and encouragement from her teachers. "Here, no one judges me when I do something wrong, only gives me suggestions to correct my mistakes. That helps me improve both in my expertise and in my professional behavior," Vy shared.
