New perspective on the image of the People's Public Security soldier

The 4th National Stage Arts Festival "Image of the People's Public Security Soldier" 2020, chaired by the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, took place from July 16 to August 4 in Hanoi.

Over the past few days, the stages of reformed opera and drama stages in Ho Chi Minh City have heated up with the preparation of 5 participating plays: "Who is the Alibi" (Trinh Kim Chi Stage), "The Doll Does Not Know How to Cry" (Hero Film Entertainment Company Limited), "The Borderline" (Ho Chi Minh City Drama Theater), "Vietnamese Lotus" (Youth World Theater, Ho Chi Minh City University of Theater and Cinema), "In the Name of Justice" (Tran Huu Trang Reformed Opera Theater).

Immediately after their debut, these plays created public opinion among experts and audiences when the image of the People's Public Security soldier was exploited by the directors with a new perspective.

People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc commented: "The stages in Ho Chi Minh City are still dynamic stages, always looking for ways to bring plays after the festival to the public, so each perspective exploited has attractive and lively elements. With the central characters being police officers, Ho Chi Minh City's stage has made efforts to build realistic characters' fates close to life and work. It is worth mentioning that the 5 plays have received positive feedback, promising not only to bring to the festival a new artistic mark of Ho Chi Minh City stage but also to serve the public after the festival."

This year, the festival has the participation of 27 art troupes with 35 plays. This is an activity to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the People's Public Security tradition day (August 19), and the 15th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection.

According to the organizers, the number of works of art forms participating in the festival is diverse, including cheo, cai luong, folk opera, and drama. The festival not only attracts public theater units but also many non-public units. According to the experts, there are no longer plays that call for achievements and general praise, the plays coming to the festival are very diverse and of high quality.

Regarding the scripts, People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau said that this festival has 11 scripts on drug crime prevention, 12 scripts on investigation and solving cases, 3 scripts on fighting against negativity, 3 scripts on preventing social evils, 3 scripts on preventing corruption, 3 scripts on fighting against hostile forces, and 3 scripts on other political topics. That shows the diversity of perspectives.
