Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , a representative of IIG Vietnam said that the number of Vietnamese candidates taking the SAT exam has been increasing recently.
Specifically, in 2023, there will be 3,510 candidates taking the SAT exam in Vietnam, the highest in the past 5 years.
The number of Vietnamese candidates taking the SAT in 2023 has increased by 74% in the past year and is 174% higher than in 2022. In 2022, there were 2,012 Vietnamese candidates taking the SAT.
In addition, in the period 2019 - 2021, the number of Vietnamese candidates taking the SAT was 1,781 (2019), 1,821 (2020) and 2,139 (2021) respectively.

Overall, in the past 5 years, only in 2022 did the number of Vietnamese candidates taking the SAT decrease slightly compared to 2021. At that time, many universities in the US and some countries removed the SAT test requirement for admission due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, by 2023, many universities in the US will begin to require SAT certificates again in the admissions files of candidates.
Also since the COVID-19 pandemic, many Vietnamese universities have had an admission method using SAT exam results.
Typically, in the 2024 admissions season, more than 20 universities in Hanoi have an admissions method using SAT exam results.

The maximum score on the SAT is 1,600. The average SAT score of high school graduates in 2024 is 1,024/1,600.
