Urgent investigation into the cause of the fire at Doc Lap apartment building, Ho Chi Minh City

On the morning of July 7, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh issued Official Dispatch No. 105/CD-TTg on handling the fire at apartment 019 and apartment 020 of Doc Lap apartment building, Doc Lap street, Phu Tho Hoa ward, Ho Chi Minh city.

Telegram sent to ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies, government agencies; Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities.

Previously, at about 9:54 p.m. on July 6, 2025, a fire broke out at apartment 019 and apartment 020 of Doc Lap apartment building, Doc Lap street, Phu Tho Hoa ward, Ho Chi Minh city, causing particularly serious consequences, killing 8 people.

On behalf of the Government, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh sent their condolences to the relatives and families of the victims and gave the following instructions:

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee directed the organization to visit thoughtfully, promptly encourage and provide material and spiritual support, creating the best conditions to help stabilize the lives of the victims' families; closely coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to promptly investigate the cause of the fire, and strictly handle violations (if any) of related organizations and individuals in accordance with the provisions of law.

The Minister of Public Security, ministers, heads of ministries, branches, relevant agencies and Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities continue to direct the strict implementation of documents of the National Assembly, the Government, and the Prime Minister on fire prevention and fighting, especially the Law on Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue, Directive No. 01/CT-TTg dated January 3, 2023 on strengthening fire prevention and fighting in the new situation...

At the same time, inspect, classify, and guide the immediate application of solutions to strengthen fire prevention and fighting for houses and facilities with high risk of fire and explosion, resolutely and strictly handle violations according to the provisions of law; at the same time, step up propaganda and guidance on fire prevention, fighting, rescue and first aid skills for people in a practical and effective manner, minimizing damage caused by fire and explosion in the area.
