Lao Cai builds 9 inter-level ethnic boarding schools in border areas

GD&TĐ - Lao Cai province will build nine inter-level boarding schools for ethnic minorities in nine border communes and wards according to the policy of the Politburo.

According to Notice No. 81-TB/TW, the conclusion of the Politburo dated July 18, 2025 on the policy of investing in building schools in 248 border communes nationwide, Lao Cai province will deploy the construction of 9 inter-level boarding schools for ethnic minorities (primary and secondary schools) in the following areas: Lao Cai ward and communes: Y Ty, A Mu Sung, Trinh Tuong, Bat Xat, Pha Long, Muong Khuong, Ban Lau, Si Ma Cai.

Of these, 4 projects were selected as pilot projects, expected to be completed before August 30, 2026, including: Muong Khuong Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Y Ty Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Pha Long Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities and A Mu Sung Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities. The province is currently assigning competent authorities to urgently complete many items, especially arranging the site to keep up with the schedule.

According to the architectural design model issued by the Ministry of Construction , each school has a scale of 1,000 students or more, a land area of ​​5 - 10 hectares, with full functional blocks such as study, administration, living, sports and boarding.

The implementation of border school construction is a major campaign of the Government to ensure educational equity and develop human resources in border areas. In 2025, the project will build or renovate 100 schools, then expand to all 248 border schools nationwide. The program mobilizes resources from the state, local and social budgets.
