At around 8pm on September 21, a very heavy rain suddenly poured down on some wards in Dong Nai such as Tran Bien, Trang Dai, Tan Trieu. About 30 minutes later, some roads such as Dong Khoi, Bui Trong Nghia, National Highway 1... experienced local flooding.

In particular, on Dong Khoi Street near Trang Dai intersection, water gushed out from the alley like a waterfall, causing traffic disruption. The strong currents made it difficult for vehicles to move around, and some households had water flooding into their homes.

At Phat Trien intersection, water from Vo Van Men street with its steep slope rushes down to Highway 1.

The water was more than half a wheel deep and flowing rapidly, vehicles inched their way down the road. Many motorcyclists had to stop and wait for the water to recede before they could cross.

In addition, some residential alleys in Trang Dai and Tan Trien wards were also submerged. Water even flooded into people's houses.

Despite heavy rain, militia and many local people braved the rain to go to the manholes to collect trash to help the water drain away quickly.

At around 9:45 pm the rain gradually eased, water on the road surface quickly drained through the drainage system. About 30 minutes later most of the roads were no longer flooded, traffic returned to normal.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Huy - Director of Dong Nai Hydrometeorological Station, said that the heavy rain was not caused by super typhoon Ragasa but only in some areas in Ho Chi Minh City across Bien Hoa area.

The rainfall measured at Bien Hoa station was very large, reaching 68mm. In Trang Bom, it only rained 14mm, other places only had light rain.

Dong Nai Hydrometeorological Station warned that heavy rain will continue in the above areas and expand to neighboring areas.

People need to proactively respond to the risk of flooding caused by heavy rain in low-lying areas, areas with inadequate drainage systems or areas under construction or repair.
