In response to complaints from some customers about the high electricity bills for August 2025, the electricity corporations have compiled specific statistics. Nationwide, there are a total of more than 3.2 million customers out of a total of 31.88 million residential customers whose electricity consumption in August increased by 30% or more compared to July (equivalent to a rate of more than 10% of the total number of customers).
According to data from Customer Care Centers as well as monitoring feedback on social networks, up to now there have been over 500 customer feedbacks about high electricity bills in August.
According to EVN, the feedback information has been urgently reviewed and clarified to respond to customers. Basically, last August, especially in the first half of the month, many areas in the North experienced a period of extremely hot weather leading to a very high increase in electricity consumption. Even on August 4, electricity consumption in the North was at a record high ever.
In addition to explaining bill information, power companies also instruct customers to install applications to monitor their daily electricity usage.
In the content posted on social networks reflecting on electricity bills, there are many posts or groups that do not verify specific customer information. Some of the information reflected is not true or is posted for the purpose of attracting views or selling online.
In addition, there are many cases where customers report that they do not buy electricity directly from EVN but from wholesale and retail electricity purchasing organizations. These organizations still use mechanical meters, have to enter data manually and therefore still have a higher risk of errors than electronic meters. According to preliminary statistics, there are still 521 wholesale and retail electricity purchasing organizations nationwide, of which the Northern region alone has 481 organizations.
EVN's electricity customers have been installed with electronic meters, reading data remotely, significantly reducing errors because data is updated automatically, without subjective human intervention.
After an initial review of the relevant information reflecting the high electricity bills in August, EVN said it has not discovered any errors. The review and specific inspection of the contents reflecting the electricity bills will continue to be conducted.
