Grown from a competition
- First of all, thank you Ms. Ngoc Dieu for accepting the interview invitation. Could you please introduce yourself to the readers of Quang Tri Newspaper?
- First of all, I would like to send my greetings to reporters and readers of Quang Tri Newspaper. My name is Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dieu, born in 1991. Currently, I am working at Vinh Linh High School. As a History teacher, I always strive to inspire and help students understand our history "to understand the origin of the Vietnamese nation".
- What motivated you to join the online contest "Youth learning and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style" for the 2024-2025 school year?
- The luckiest thing for me and the young people today is to be born and raised in peace . However, I always remind myself that to have peace like today, many previous generations had to exchange sweat, tears and blood. Among them, the great father of the nation, our beloved Uncle Ho, is immense. He devoted his whole life to the country and brocade of Vietnam, leaving behind a priceless legacy of ideology, morality and noble lifestyle. It is the boundless love, deep admiration, pride and gratitude for Uncle Ho that is the great motivation that urged me to join the online contest "Youth learn and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle" for the 2024 - 2025 school year. Not only to learn more about his ideology, morality and lifestyle, I also came to this contest to remind myself to live more worthy of the previous generation.
- This year, the online contest "Youth studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style" for the 2024-2025 school year attracted the participation of more than 1.8 million contestants. What was the secret that helped her pass the qualifying rounds, go straight to the finals and win second prize in the contest?
- Actually, I don't have much of a secret. I simply like to read Uncle Ho's works such as: "The Revolutionary Path", "The Call for National Resistance", "Will"... I often ponder his advice for the revolutionary cause of the country and the people. Thanks to that, I somewhat understand more clearly the great value in his ideology, morality and style. Besides, I also always improve my knowledge about the heroic history of building and defending the country, as well as the work of protecting national sovereignty over seas and islands... These are all contents related to the questions in the contest. During the contest, I always received the attention and best conditions from the Department of Education and Training, the Department's Political and Ideological Work Department, the Board of Directors of Vinh Linh High School... The timely encouragement from colleagues, friends, students and family gave me the motivation and determination to complete the rounds well.
- What does the contest prize mean to you?
- The award that the contest organizers gave me is a recognition of my efforts. However, for me, the most valuable thing is the process I went through to get that result. Those were the moments of reading and contemplating Ho Chi Minh's thoughts, ethics and style; the opportunity to understand more about Uncle Ho; learn from the simple yet profound things in his life... That process gives me more motivation to continue practicing, living and studying following Uncle Ho's example. It reminds me that: living well, living usefully, living with ideals is a long journey, cannot stop at a contest or a result. Therefore, the greatest meaning of this award to me is the maturity in awareness, thinking and life ideals that I am cultivating every day.

- As a young teacher of History, how have you tried in the past to study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style?
- In the past time, I have tried to learn and follow Uncle Ho starting from my daily work. I always try to teach with all my heart; live as an exemplary, simple, honest person; always try to learn from Uncle Ho's scientific, meticulous working style, saying what you do... Every day at school is an opportunity for me to improve myself, constantly innovate teaching methods, be close to students, maintain professional ethics, and try to do as Uncle Ho once advised: "For the benefit of ten years, plant trees, for the benefit of a hundred years, cultivate people".
- During the process of studying Uncle Ho, what positive changes have you seen in yourself?
- In the process of studying and following Uncle Ho, I have noticed many positive changes in myself, both in my thoughts and actions. I have become more mature in my perception, more profound in my outlook on life and especially more responsible in every action and word I do.
- Is that what motivated you to inspire students to be more active in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style?
- Yes! The positive changes that I have felt in the process of studying and following Uncle Ho have become the driving force that urges me to spread those noble values to generations of students. That inspiration is first shown through each History lesson - where I not only impart knowledge about events and characters, but also incorporate close, touching stories about the life and moral example of President Ho Chi Minh.
I always hope that students not only "learn history" but also "understand history" and "love history", thereby nurturing national pride, patriotism and a sense of responsibility. Outside of class, I often encourage students to participate in activities to learn about Uncle Ho such as writing impressions, telling stories on topics... or simply practicing following Uncle Ho's example from small daily tasks. In particular, as the head of the Youth Theory Club of Vinh Linh High School Youth Union, I and the students have built the club into a useful playground, where students can learn more about the Party, about national history, about the life and great career of President Ho Chi Minh, and practice critical thinking skills, political mettle and patriotism in the right way.
- Do you have any message for the young generation about studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style?
- I think Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style are often very close, simple, and present in every small action we take every day. For today's young generation, I hope you learn from Uncle Ho from the simplest things such as: living honestly, being grateful, being responsible for yourself and the community; loving work, respecting knowledge and constantly learning to improve...
Learning from Uncle Ho is not only to become a good person but also to become a decent person. As a generation living in peace, you need to cherish the present, live with ideals, have aspirations and be ready to devote your youth to the era of national development. We need to do exactly as Uncle Ho once advised the young generation: "Wherever there is a need, there will be youth, wherever there is difficulty, there will be youth".
Thank you!
