Projects that spread faith
The road leading to the construction site of the Canal 14 - Ba Thuoc bridge (Duy Tam Duc bridge), Hoa Tan hamlet, Hoa Hung commune, was as crowded as a festival on the groundbreaking day. More than 200 people mixed mortar, carried sand, poured rocks, from the elderly to women and young people, all were enthusiastic. The bustling laughter overwhelmed the summer sun. The bridge is 55m long, 3.5m wide, has a load capacity of 5 tons, and a construction cost of 480 million VND, connecting Hoa Hung commune ( An Giang province) and Vi Thanh 1 commune (Can Tho city). The project helps people travel safely, trade conveniently, and opens up a new face for the rural areas in the suburbs.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tham, resident of Hoa Tan hamlet, confided: “Although Hoa Hung and Vi Thanh 1 commune are only separated by a river, it is a long way to cross. Now that there is a new bridge, I am very excited. I hope that in the future, the bridges and roads in my hometown will continue to be built to be spacious so that students and people can travel conveniently.”

Transformation to get rich
Mr. Luong Van Dau, residing in Hoa Son hamlet, Hoa Thuan commune, previously had only 2 hectares of rice fields, growing rice was ineffective due to the acid sulfate soil. Hearing the local people's call for conversion, he boldly tried "1 crop of rice, 1 crop of larva". "At first, I planted 1.5 hectares, after 95 days of harvesting, I found that larva was suitable for the soil, the yield was twice as high as rice, and the output was stable. Every day I sell 50 - 60 kg, sometimes nearly 100 kg, thanks to that I have extra income to take care of my two children's education", Mr. Dau shared.
Mr. Nguyen Van Sang - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Hoa Thuan Commune said: "The clever thing is to combine the emulation movement "Skilled mass mobilization" with a specific model, close to life. When people see the benefits and income, they will voluntarily follow, then spread it to many other households. That is the power of mass mobilization".

Thanks to this approach, Hoa Thuan commune has 51 effective economic models, and farmers' lives are increasingly improving. In the 2020 - 2025 term, the commune achieved a rice output of more than 410,000 tons, nearly 784,000 tons of aquatic products (3.6 times higher than the resolution target), an average income per capita of 66.7 million VND/year, and built more than 320 solidarity houses for households in difficult circumstances. Currently, the commune has 11 cooperatives with more than 1,500 members, providing closed services from land preparation, seeds, irrigation pumps to product consumption, helping farmers increase profits.
Secretary of the Hoa Thuan Commune Party Committee Tran Van Thanh emphasized: “The results of the past term show that the emulation movement “Skilled mass mobilization” has become a driving force for comprehensive development. This is the foundation for the commune to enter the 2025 - 2030 term with breakthroughs: Investing in rural transport infrastructure, promoting digital transformation, building a team of competent cadres who dare to think and dare to do.”
