Hanoi temporarily suspends entertainment and tourism activities during flood warning period

The Department of Culture and Sports of Hanoi city has just issued document No. 3022/SVHTT-QLDSVH on natural disaster prevention at historical-cultural relics and scenic spots in Hanoi city.

Accordingly, the Department of Culture and Sports of Hanoi City requested the People's Committees of communes, wards, the Thang Long-Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center; the Management Boards of relics: Hanoi Monuments and Landscapes, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Hoa Lo Prison to direct functional departments to urgently and strictly implement the direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Official Dispatch No. 3550/CD-BVHTTDL dated July 19, 2025 on focusing on responding to Storm No. 3 in 2025 and the Directive Documents of Hanoi City on responding to Storm No. 3 in 2025.

The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports requested units to inspect and review the power supply system in relics; proactively implement plans to protect historical and cultural relics in the management area; and temporarily suspend entertainment and tourism activities during the flood warning period.

Along with that, direct the authorities to strengthen the work of natural disaster prevention and effective search and rescue, avoid incidents at relics to minimize damage caused by storms and floods. Make a map of the location, list of damaged relics and artifacts at relics after the incident, as a basis for comparison, restoration and remediation of incidents, clarify the responsibilities of relevant organizations and individuals (if any).

For degraded or severely degraded relics at risk of collapse located near rivers and lakes, it is necessary to have measures to prevent natural disasters and search and rescue to avoid flooding.

For relics that have been demolished or are under construction, effective protection measures must be taken to avoid damage caused by storms and floods, in order to ensure safety during the restoration activities.

For riverside relics, it is necessary to proactively monitor flood developments on mass media, announcements from local authorities, ministries and relevant sectors to take timely measures to ensure safety of life and property; closely coordinate with relevant units to deploy flood response plans; prepare available forces, means and materials to move artifacts, worship items and important documents to safe places; organize to overcome consequences according to instructions from competent authorities.

The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports also requested units to implement measures to ensure environmental sanitation, such as: Maintaining regular cleaning at relics; arranging places to collect and transport waste in the right places to ensure the landscape of the relics is green, clean and beautiful./.
