Thanh Hoa: Expected increase in water discharge flow of Cua Dat lake

Based on the current water level of Cua Dat Lake at +108.54m, to ensure absolute safety for works, lives and property of the state and people in the downstream area of ​​Cua Dat Lake, the Irrigation Investment and Construction Management Board 3 plans to increase the discharge flow of Cua Dat Lake.

The operation of water discharge and regulation of Cua Dat reservoir is to maintain the reservoir water level not exceeding the highest water level before the flood. Accordingly, the expected time to increase the discharge flow is at 10:00 on September 27; The expected discharge flow increases from 1,250 m3/s to 3,200 m3/s until the end of the reservoir regulation operation process according to regulations.

In response to the storm, to ensure safety when storm No. 10 makes landfall, on September 27, the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training issued an official dispatch requesting educational institutions in the province to allow students from preschool to high school to take a day off on September 29, 2025 (Monday).

At the same time, the Thanh Hoa education sector requested localities and units to develop plans to ensure safety for students, teachers and education managers, and minimize damage caused by the storm. From Tuesday, September 30, 2025, educational institutions will proactively monitor the storm's developments and post-storm circulation, report to the People's Committees of communes, wards and the Department of Education and Training to let students stay home from school (if deemed necessary).

By the morning of September 27, mountainous communes of Thanh Hoa province had prepared plans to evacuate 1,722 households/7,351 people living in 233 villages/59 communes at risk of being affected by flash floods. Currently, localities are arranging forces to be on duty 24/7, especially at flooded underground spillways, not allowing people and vehicles to pass through. Along with that, prepare forces, materials, vehicles, and logistics for rescue when required according to the "4 on-site" motto as well as develop support plans for areas at high risk of flash floods and landslides causing long-term isolation; be ready to respond when storms make landfall or circulation after storms causes floods...
