(Dan Tri) - To prepare for the new school year, teachers at the Kindergarten and Primary School in Tam Thanh Commune, Thanh Hoa Province are working with the government, police, and army to clean up mud and soil after the terrible flood.

On September 1, Mr. Le The Anh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tam Thanh commune, Thanh Hoa province, said that the floods after storm Kajiki (storm No. 5) caused 46 landslides, more than 8,000m3 of rock and soil flooded into schools, houses, roads... in the area.

In addition, many inter-village roads were cut off, dozens of hectares of rice and aquaculture areas of local people were washed away.

Mr. The Anh also said that the flood had seriously affected the Kindergarten and Primary School in Cha Lung village, with a large amount of rock and soil flowing into the school yard and classrooms.

“To prepare for the new school year 2025-2026, over the past few days, we have mobilized the maximum force including the army, police, militia, and hired machinery to try to overcome the consequences of the floods. The focus is on cleaning up mud at the two kindergartens and primary schools,” said Mr. The Anh.

Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, Ms. Ngan Thi Thuong, Principal of Tam Thanh Kindergarten, said that by the morning of September 1, all post-storm and flood recovery work had been basically completed. The school is rushing to redecorate the campus and hang the national flag to prepare for the opening ceremony of the new school year.

According to Ms. Thuong, during the recent flood, hundreds of cubic meters of mud and soil poured into the yard and gate of the school at the Cha Lung hamlet.

“After the flood passed, the school mobilized teachers to coordinate with local authorities to clear the soil and rocks to ensure the new school year was ready on time. Fortunately, the flood did not damage desks, chairs, or teaching equipment,” she said.

Ms. Thuong also said that in the new school year 2025-2026, the school will have nearly 200 students. In recent days, in addition to the support of the local government, the police force, border guards, militia, and local youth union members have joined hands to help the work of clearing rocks and dredging mud to be deployed quickly.

Previously, the border commune of Tam Thanh (formerly Quan Son district), Thanh Hoa province, suffered heavy damage due to the circulation of storm No. 5. Local authorities were forced to urgently evacuate 106 households with 494 people in 8 villages to safe places to prevent landslides.
