On September 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health announced that at 8:10 p.m. on September 10, a newborn baby weighing 2,950 grams was safely born in the delivery room of the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center.
The 39-week-old mother was directly delivered by Dr. Huynh Giang Chau (Hung Vuong Hospital), and Pediatrician Tran Thi Mai Lien (Children's Hospital 1) also took care of the baby.
According to the mother's family, about 3 weeks ago, the family planned to fly to the mainland to give birth at the hospital, but when they heard that there were specialist doctors working on rotation at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center, the family decided to give birth at home.
Dr. Huynh Giang Chau directly examined and discovered that the pregnant woman had moderate anemia and was in the high-risk group. However, thanks to the center being equipped with a blood bank, he was confident in assigning the pregnant woman to give birth at the center.
The mother was directly delivered by a team of doctors and nurses as if she were giving birth at Hung Vuong Hospital.
According to Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, the department respectfully acknowledges and highly appreciates the efforts and serious working spirit of the specialist doctors who are rotating to work at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center.
Daily work diary reports in recent days show that the number of people coming to the center for examination and treatment has increased, 2 to 3 times higher than before. In particular, there have been cases of complex emergency surgery to save the patient's life, laparoscopic surgery for appendicitis. And this is the first birth in Con Dao that took place safely, with both mother and child safe.
