On the morning of August 19, The Hanoi Train officially opened for tourists. Along with that, Vietnam Railways Corporation also launched a biometric ticket control system.

The train consists of 10 carriages, of which 5 are for passengers and are named after familiar windows associated with Hanoi's memories: Quan Chuong Gate, Cau Den Gate, Dong Mac Gate, Cau Giay Gate and Cho Dua Gate. Each name is like a piece of memory, reminding us of the old Thang Long.

Departing from Hanoi station, the train takes visitors through Long Bien, Gia Lam, Yen Vien, then to Tu Son (Bac Ninh) and back. The route depicts a journey to discover the scenery and life of the capital through the glass window.

The passenger compartments are named after the five gates of Hanoi.

The train is designed with 5 double-decker seats and 2 special cars for checking in. Each car can accommodate from 40 to 60 seats, with luxurious interiors and a unique style.

The upper floor features a large glass ceiling, allowing guests to enjoy natural light and the outside view. The interior is a combination of brown, red and white, both rustic and sophisticated, using velvet, wood and rattan materials. Between the compartments are partitions to create a private space, while the wooden floor evokes the idea of train tracks rolling underfoot.

The highlight of the design also comes from the partitions decorated with Dong Ho paintings and oil paintings, recreating the architectural beauty and life of ancient Hanoi, bringing both aesthetic and nostalgic experiences to passengers.

The train cars are decorated with Dong Ho paintings and wooden interiors, accented with rattan and bamboo materials, bringing visitors back to traditional Hanoi.

The upper deck of the train is designed to be airy with natural light pouring through the glass ceiling, while the lower deck offers a warm feeling under yellow lights.

Here, visitors can enjoy breakfast while admiring the capital's landmarks through large windows.

The Indochine-style interior creates a luxurious, antique look, evoking memories of old Hanoi. Bat Trang ceramic details and wooden ceilings and walls make the space more intimate and cozy.

Both floors are equipped with large glass doors, opening up a clear view for visitors to easily enjoy the city landscape at many times of the day. Most of the seats and dining tables face outside, providing a complete experience when admiring the beauty of Hanoi through each window.

The train has a special design with seats facing outwards, along with large glass windows to help passengers have a complete experience when viewing the capital through the window.

The space inside the train cars recreates the characteristics of Hanoi with traditional arts (xam, ca tru), culinary quintessence (pho cuon, banh com, lotus tea) and handicraft products (Van Phuc silk, folk paintings), creating a lively and emotional cultural experience.

Ms. Tran Huyen Thuong (42 years old, Director of Tam Duc Phat packaging factory, Hanoi) is one of the first passengers to experience the Hanoi 5-door train.

She shared her excitement at enjoying traditional cuisine, listening to folk music and admiring the capital's landscape during a short journey. "Everything on the train is very neat, Hanoi culture is clearly shown through all 5 senses," she said.

Not only is the interior meticulous, the small details are also invested in by the management agency and cleverly incorporate hidden meanings about love for the country.

Unlike regular trains, the ticket for the Hanoi 5-door train is like a passport to the past with traditional cultural features of old Hanoi.

The Hanoi 5-gate train not only recalls the historical and cultural imprints of the capital, but also represents the dedication of Vietnam Railways Corporation and its partners in combining the preservation of traditional values with innovation, contributing to bringing railways back to urban life in a more intimate and lively way.

With the support of Vietnam Railways Corporation and partners, the heritage train was launched in time for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2 and the 71st anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day.
